The President of MFPA, Mr Teh Khay Leong led a delegation of Central Committee members to pay a courtesy call on YAS Datuk Mohammad Hamdan bin Hj Wahid, the newly appointed Director Geneal (DG) of the Fire & Rescue Department Malaysia (FRDM) on 23rd July 2018. He was appointed as the new DG on 11th June 2018 and replace YAS Dato’ Sri Hj Wan Mohd Nor Bin Hj Ibrahim who retired on 2nd May 2018. Yas Tuan Muhammad Hamdan was previously the Assistant Director General of the Planning, Research and Development Division of FRDM.
In the meeting with new DG, he highlighted a number of points where MFPA can play a greater row in fire safety protection efforts. Among the points he raised were that FRDM will continue to have a close collaboration and coorperation with professional bodies, NGOs and industrial institutions, to amongst other things, focus on supporting and enhancing the progress of the fire industry in Malaysia, work together to promote academic & technology enhancement and
platform like seminars, Expos and conferences; improve national standards, codes of practices, regulation & laws regarding products, certifications and researches; promote industry players to do community social responsibility projects for rural areas; encourage NGO like MFPA to become partners in enhancing the enforcement of the fire protection, products, contractor competency and regulating code of ethics; partner with FRDM to create public awareness and educatinal program to the public.
The visit and meeting ended with the exchange of sourvenir between the MFPA president, Mr Tey Khay Leong and the Director General of FRDM YAS Datuk Mohammad Hamdan Bin Hj Wahid.
In attendance were Exco Members, Immidiate Past President Danny Cheah, Vice President Mr Steven Ooi, Vice President Mr Michael Toh, Hon Secretary Mr Tee Siew Chong, Hon Treasurer Mr Tony Phuang, and Central Committee Members including Dato Daniel Ng, Mr Steven Ng, Mr Ho Kam Hoong, Mr Hooi Choon Meng and Mr Ooi Kean Jin.
